Also present was E.Comp. Chris Eley, PGStB, Past Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principals, who had been invited by the Chapter Scribe E, E.Comp. David Dennison-Smith, to present an Oration, and as their M.E.Z. was unable to attend also acted as First Principal.

An Executive Visit to Chapter of VigilanceAfter the Chapter was opened the Second Provincial Grand Principal accompanied by his Escorting Officer entered the Chapter and was offered the Sceptre by the Acting M.E.Z., E.Comp. Chris Eley. The Second Provincial Grand Principal said how good it was to be visiting Chapter of Vigilance for the first time. He then introduced the Provincial team and took the minutes.

E.Comp. Chris Eley then delivered an Oration entitled ‘An Explanation of the Final Steps in Pure Ancient Freemasonry’. This was very well received and prompted some good discussion. Afterwards the Second Provincial Grand Principal invited the M.E.Z. to resume the Chair to continue with the afternoon’s agenda.

The Charity Steward, E.Comp. Ron Brick, PProvAGSoj, gave his report and afterwards he presented the Second Provincial Grand Principal with a cheque towards the 2019 Festival, which was gratefully received. The Second Provincial Grand Principal then had much pleasure in presenting the Chapter with a 2019 RMBI Surrey Festival Bronze Award saying how much the Royal Arch has supported the Festival and how grateful the Provincial Executive are for this support.

Afterwards, the Companions of Chapter of Vigilance and their guests sat down to a most convivial festive board at the Surbiton Masonic Hall.
